Product quality,along with process quality, is one of the most important aspects of software development nowadays. Because of that, the ISO/IEC 25000 – System and Software Quality Requirements and Evaluation (SQuaRE) series of standards is being developed. Some of the most important standards in this series have already been published, while others are still under development.

ISO/IEC 25000 comprises a series of standards based on ISO/IEC 9126 and ISO/IEC 14598 whose main objective is to guide the development of software products through the specification of quality requirements and the evaluation quality characteristics.
